Equipment and Supplies

Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL)

According to Alberta.ca “Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) assists Albertans with a long-term disability, chronic illness or terminal illness, in maintaining independence in their community.” AADL provides funding for medical equipment and supplies including bathing and toileting aids, walking aids and wheelchairs, dressing supplies, incontinence products, ostomy supplies, oxygen supplies, therapeutic footwear, hearing aids, and even beds and powered wheelchairs. Albertans will be required to pay 25% of the cost to a maximum of $500, however low-income seniors may apply to be exempt.

See the AADL website for more information on which other supplies may be funded, or contact your local Community Care to have a Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist or Speech Language Pathologist assess your individual needs.  The Community Care access number is 1-855-371-4122 (select the option for North Zone when prompted) and they will direct you to your nearest Community Health Provider. You may refer yourself or someone else (with their consent).
